MAP SKILLS
In order for students who are blind and visually impaired to learn about the world in which they live, adaptations must be made in methods and materials for teaching map skills. Students enrolled in social studies classes at TSB use large type maps, map puzzles, raised line maps, globes with raised features, Braille atlases, or large print atlases to accommodate their loss of vision and permit them to gain knowledge and skills.
A great source for these adapted teaching materials: The American Printing House for the Blind, Inc.
